International Women’s Day Cards

Ilana K., a Benjamin N. Cardozo High School volunteer, shares how international women’s day is special for her and her culture.

During this meeting, we made cards for the elderly women, specifically for International Women's Day. In my culture (I’m Russian), we take this holiday very seriously and usually have big celebrations for it. I hope these cards could offer excitement for the holiday, especially since it is one that is of great importance. I used card layouts that had flowers on them (since usually, we give huge bouquets), as well as bright colors to emphasize the joy of celebrating the holiday. I wrote short sentiments about women and how important they are and used the "To My Dear Friend Card" layout. I really do wish these cards will provide some kind of joy and hope that these senior citizens will be happy to receive them.
