Bonding with Members
Aishanee A., one of the leaders at the Livingston High School chapter, shares how she bonds with her chapter on Zoom.
The idea of trying to start a club and keep it afloat during such a strange time scared me a bit. I knew the club would have to be mostly Zoom-based and that in and of itself added a challenge because it is much harder to connect with people over Zoom. From personal experience, I know Zoom meetings can get really awkward really fast and I didn't want that to happen for our meetings. We (the board) adopted the strategy of planning a game for all of these events to keep the Zoom call lively and sort of guide the conversation. I am really happy that everyone has been participating and talking, and the meetings have been genuinely fun for me. I'm learning so much about the members and hearing awesome stories about their lives. Seeing as how the club is able to bond pretty well online, I am SO excited for whenever we will all be able to meet in person.
