2021 Glammy Scholarship Winner: Samantha Krinick
Huntington Station, NY, May 26, 2021 — Half Hollow Hills West High School senior Samantha Krinick is one of five teens across the country to take home the $1,000 Glammy Scholarship Award. The scholarship, awarded by GlamourGals Foundation, was presented to Krinick at the 17th Annual Glammy Scholarship Awards.
GlamourGals Foundation, a nonprofit that inspires and organizes teens to combat elder isolation through one-on-one makeovers, grants scholarships to exemplary volunteers within the organization. Although GlamourGals has gone remote for the past year, its efforts have continued virtually. Krinick, who will be attending Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, has spent the past four years building up her local chapter of GlamourGals through event planning, spreading awareness, and empowering those around her.
Krinick entered GlamourGals as a shy freshman, but after becoming president her sophomore year, she grew into a much more confident, inspired, and responsible member of the community. Through her duties of organizing makeovers, managing meetings, and engaging other members, Krinick discovered how she could use her growing passion for business to help in her duties for GlamourGals.
Thanks to Krinick’s efforts, GlamourGals has been able to expand its reach in Long Island to connect countless more volunteers with isolated seniors. Krinick reflected on her experience after being awarded her scholarship with the following statement, “as beneficial as it is for us teens to learn from others’ experiences, it also makes a difference in the seniors' lives, having a younger generation to chat with, bond and engage with. Seeing the smiles on their faces at the end of each meeting showed me how big of a difference we were making in their day.”
