Inspiring Women

Leah A., a Bloomfield High School volunteer, recounts the moving and inspiring conversations she had with a senior named Joan.

One woman that I met at the home and would constantly paint her nails is Joan. She forgets who I am almost every time but she always remembers me when I start painting her nails. She is so sweet and makes me feel comfortable. We usually talk about the same things every time, but I love hearing her stories. She tells me about her children, her husband, and some hardships that she had experienced in her life. She tells me about her life in high school and the things she did when she was younger. Joan inspires me to live my life to the fullest and pursue my dreams.
