Big things for GG McMaster!

Lizmarie C., Mc Master University President, reflects on her chapter’s success during this past service year. She shares her hopes for all that she and fellow volunteers can accomplish for the senior home residents.

Last year was an exceptional year for GG McMaster. I truly believe that we did an excellent job in spreading the GlamourGals mission. In October 2021 my co-president and I were featured on two major media outlets showcasing our love for GlamourGals and our commitment to this team. Being the first Canadian chapter was a big part of why we were contacted by these media outlets.

It all started when one of our executive members reached out to a local newspaper for a feature. After doing so, my co-president and I began telling our story and how we came to join this amazing organization. A few weeks after this article got published in the Hamilton Spectator , we were contacted by a news channel. We actually ended up doing a live interview on the early morning news, where we discussed the amazing work that GG does and why we wanted to be a part of this mission.

Following that an MPP by the name of Donna Skelly actually talked about us in the senate. All of this amounted to an amazing year for GG and truly felt amazing to be a part of!Wrapping up third year also meant saying goodbye to my co-founder and co-president and the entire executive team I started GG McMaster with. All of our original members graduate this year, so I will be the only one left on the team.

Prior to ending the year we held interviews for new executive members for next year. And I can confidently say that we found a great group of individuals to bring onto our wonderful team.

I am excited to be leading this new team and to show them the ropes of this amazing organization. It definitely will be a change but I know for a fact that I am ready! I started my University experience with in-person GlamourGals event and I am excited, pumped and ready to continue that into my fourth and final year.
