Advice for New Volunteers

GG volunteer Nikki G. from the Half Hollow Hills West Chapter shares her advice for new volunteers.

As a GlamourGals volunteer, I am so passionate about helping others and participating in activities at the senior home. When my family asks about my day, the first thing I tell them is how I left a smile on so many faces at the senior home. My biggest advice is to be thankful that you have the wonderful opportunity to be with those that are suffering, need someone to talk to, or just simply there. Another piece of advice is to always have conversations with the seniors. Do not sit there on your phone or ask the same boring questions, show you are interested in their lives and ask if you can do anything to help them. This is truly an amazing experience with many different learning aspects. Helping others is the greatest thing you can do for someone.
