Learning Leadership Through GlamourGals

Celina J., President of the Livingston High School Chapter, shares how GlamourGals has helped her blossom into a compassionate and passionate leader.

My time at GlamourGals started when I was scrolling through my school’s virtual club fair, looking for a meaningful club to join. I came across GlamourGals and joined, excited to get involved and meet new people. Like many, at my first couple of visits, I felt awkward and wasn’t sure how to interact with the seniors. As I continued to go, that changed, and what I realized was that I am just an introverted person, and going on these visits helped me break out of my shell. I started warming up to the seniors and realized I didn’t need to have an extravagant conversation with them, but just a genuine one.

When first joining GlamourGals I was shy, introverted, and reserved, I was never interested in having a leadership role. But, as I attended more events and became acclimated to the environment, I started to branch out. I owe this all to GlamourGals and the seniors at the homes we visit. GlamourGals has not only shown me what empathy and passion look like, but it has also allowed me to blossom into the leader that I am today. Though leaving my high school chapter, I am thrilled to continue my GlamourGals journey in college!
