Card Writing Fun
Yismary C. of the Rutgers Chapter shares reflections while making Valentine’s Day Cards.
Before our usual visit to the nursing home, our GlamourGals team gathered to make Valentine’s Day cards for the residents. The room buzzed with laughter, the occasional rustling of paper, and the soft scratch of markers as we poured our hearts into each design. Some of us went for classic reds and pinks, while others got creative with glitter, stickers, and heartfelt messages.
As we sat together, cutting out hearts and writing personal notes, it was impossible not to think about the women we’ve met during our visits—the ones who light up when we arrive, who share their stories with us, who remind us that a simple act of kindness can make someone’s day.
It felt special knowing that each card would find its way into the hands of a resident, bringing a little extra love to their Valentine’s Day. While a card might seem like a small gesture, the effort behind it—the care, the thoughtfulness, the time spent—is what truly matters. I can’t wait to deliver them and see the smiles they bring.
