Power Brunch with GG
Ivy L. from the Union County Vocational Technical Schools shares about her experience at Power Brunch, held on March 8, 2025 at Deloitte!
I had the honor of attending Power Brunch with my chapter. I had been looking forward to the event for weeks, especially since GLTI, my first GG event, was such an incredible and rewarding experience. I couldn't help but grin foolishly at the thought of meeting new friends from different states, devouring fluffy New York bagels, and leaving with confidence, motivation, and a bag full of goodies.
When I first arrived, I was greeted with the familiar enthusiasm I had experienced at GLTI and immediately felt welcomed. While everyone enjoyed breakfast and completed their "Passions Tic Tac Toe," I had the pleasure of meeting a girl named Chloe. We discovered that we had a common interest in photography and makeup. Chloe instantly made me feel like we were friends from the same high school.
In the opening speech, I was delighted to learn that even extracurriculars not directly related to a specific career or job can be useful.
Next, we heard from our glorious queen, GG's Founder, Rachel Doyle! I have to say, Rachel has an aura I can’t fully explain in just a few words. She embodies the phrase "beauty and brains." I aspire to be as outspoken, ambitious, and confident as Rachel. I’m extremely proud of how far the organization has come over the past 25 years.
Tennille's story was as beautiful as she is. I couldn’t imagine how much strength it took for Tennille to be where she is today, the CEO of a company in one of the world's major cities! Her inspiring words motivated me to believe that anything is possible.
Amanda's presentation on journaling was engaging. When we split into pairs to share stories we’d like to journal about, I met a volunteer who had recently joined GlamourGals. I told her how nervous I had been for my first visit, worried I wouldn’t be able to communicate well with the seniors. But to my surprise, interacting with them was no different than spending time with my family and friends.
One of the main takeaways from our mentorship session was the importance of doing things we’re truly passionate about.
There are so many memorable moments from Power Brunch that I could go on forever. However, I’d like to conclude this journal by thanking everyone who made this event possible. Joining GlamourGals has been one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I’m so grateful to be a part of such an amazing community.
