What is GlamourGals?
Since 2000, GlamourGals has been creating intergenerational relationships to reduce elder loneliness. Learn more about our mission.
How did My Dear Friend start?
During the pandemic, we preserved the critical interactions between seniors and GlamourGals with safe and distanced programs, including My Dear Friend card writing.
How do I participate?
Sign up to receive an email with card writing tips and resources to get started.
Who can participate?
Anyone, any age!
How do I submit my cards?
You’ll log the number of cards you wrote on our senior home request form, and we’ll email you a senior home address and mailing instructions within 2 business days.
How many cards can I write?
As many as you can! Our goal is at least 10,000 cards written and sent this holiday season. Get writing.
How many times can I request a senior home address?
As many times as you like! Each time you log the number of completed cards, we will match you with a senior home and email you the mailing address within 2 business days.
When is the last day to request a senior home address?
Log your finished cards by Sunday, February 9th.
Do my cards need to be in individual envelopes?
No. We ask card-writers to mail all their cards in one large envelope because individual envelopes can be difficult to open for seniors.
How many times can I submit cards?
As many times as you like! Each time you report the number of completed cards, we will match you with a senior home and email you the mailing address.
Can I recommend a senior home to receive cards?
Yes! Ask the senior home to fill out this form to request cards.
Can I use glitter in my cards?
We have been asked by senior homes to not send cards with glitter.
Can I get a card back?
This program is designed so that card can be easily distributed and read by any senior, possibly alone, so personal responses are not possible.
