Why I Believe in GlamourGals
Holly S, a Volunteer with our Commack chapter, speaks on how her Great Grandmother’s memory inspired her to join GlamourGals and the connections she made in the process.
The club GlamourGals means so much to me. My Great Grandma used to live in a home for senior citizens and lived to 99 years old. My chapter in Commack actually goes to the place she used to live so these meetings are so special to me. I would have loved to know that my Great Grandma went to a meeting and talked to a few girls about anything because there wasn’t much else for her to do. Because of this, I go to every meeting with a big smile trying my hardest to brighten someone’s day and to talk to them so they feel like they are wanted and they have someone to talk to for a little while. This club means so much to me and my reason for becoming a part of this community was all inspired by my Great Grandma.
In the beginning of the school year I met a lady at one of the homes named Diane. We have developed a very nice connection and have great conversations whenever we are at an event. I have done her makeover every event and we catch up and have a lot of laughs. I’m really happy I got to meet Diane because she’s a different person than me and has a different perspective so it’s nice hearing what she has to say whenever we talk. She asked me for my phone number a few months ago and we text all the time and send each other funny GIFs. I’m really happy that I got the chance to meet her and get to know her because it’s really cool for me to hear all of her stories and what she has to say.
