GlamourGals Fall Semester 2020 Reflection
Samantha B., a Connecticut College volunteer, reflects on a virtual GlamourGals semester.
Overall, the Connecticut College chapter of GlamourGals had a relatively successful semester, given the circumstances. Throughout the semester, we hosted letter-writing meetings, and we even joined one of the GG National Zoom calls on Giving Tuesday. I really appreciated how the virtual nature of the programming has allowed us to feel more connected with GG National, and I would love to see more all-chapter letter writing meetings hosted by GG National in the future! As a chapter, we wrote letters to two senior homes, and were able to send enough letters for each resident to receive at least one. We also hosted a crafting meeting where we made sock snowmen to send to one of our senior homes. Although we did not necessarily launch a pen pal program with one of the senior homes as we had hoped, writing letters was still very rewarding. Being part of GlamourGals has been especially meaningful during this time, and it is very reassuring and motivating to watch the organization adapt. I am also so proud of the sense of community our chapter has fostered -- being back on campus while so much else is remote has felt isolating at times, so it is nice to know that GlamourGals will always be a welcoming community.
