Get it Together With Lauren Berger!
Maha S., a volunteer at McMaster University, attended an event her chapter hosted with Intern Queen’s Lauren Berger. She shares the valuable lessons she took away about career journeys, networking, mentorship, and more!
This year we were honored to have Lauren Berger join us for a special event on career and post-grad advice! I found this event to be extremely insightful and learned some valuable lessons from Lauren. Being at the end of my third year, I am at a stage where I am constantly thinking about what I will do after my undergrad, and trying to choose a career path that will work best for me. As exciting as this time is, it is also stressful and filled with doubts and uncertainties. Lauren spoke about how diverse and unique every person’s career journey can be. She explained how you don’t have to pick one thing and stick with it - instead you can get involved with a variety of things you are passionate about and that will mold the perfect career for you. She also emphasized the importance of making connections because you never know what opportunities each person will bring. Likewise, having strong mentors is key to staying motivated and growing as a person. She encouraged us to reach out to people whenever we see an opportunity, and never be afraid to ask questions. Lauren also told her story which I found very inspiring. She was a very engaging speaker and was super kind - even open to staying in touch and answering more questions after the event. Overall, the event was very motivating and refreshing, and I took away many valuable lessons!
