Holiday Card Making

Molly P., a Bay Port High School volunteer, has used the Holiday My Dear Friend campaign to reach seniors in her community. She reveals how writing cards has grown her compassion for isolated members of our society.

Throughout the last two weeks, I have been making holiday cards for the Holiday My Dear Friend campaign. I have found it a great way to be artistic, take a break, and do something for someone else. I think my favorite part of card making is the camaraderie with other members as it is fun to make cards in groups as well as the thought put towards elders.

It is easy to forget about the large numbers of seniors that reside within Howard, Suamico, and Green Bay nursing homes or assisted living because we don't see them out in the community. I have been reminded that they need just as much attention, care, and thought put towards them as everyone else we see out in the community. I can't wait to see what they think of these cards! I am a menace with glue so I have refrained from creating more than two Christmas trees but have had a great time writing letters.
