Starting a Chapter in College

Madison B., President of the University of Indianapolis chapter, takes us along her journey from being a high school volunteer to starting a chapter in college. She also shares the qualities she’s gained since being apart of GlamourGals.

I chose to start a chapter in college because I enjoyed GlamourGals so much in high school that I didn't want it to end. I have always been very passionate about making others love GlamourGals as much as I do. Luckily, the University of Indianapolis motto is, "Education for Service" so GlamourGals fit right in and was relatively easy to get started, especially since I had already done it once before. GlamourGals has always been a sort of outlet for me and has been an exciting way for me to pursue my passions outside of my major. It is something I look forward to every month. It has also bolstered my resume and given me something unique and impressive to talk about during interviews. I was asked about GlamourGals when I was being interviewed for my current job, and my boss loved it so much, he has collaborated with us on several projects! I was also asked specifically about service in one of my interviews for graduate school and it was easy to gush about my experiences as a GlamourGals Chapter Founder. My experience with GlamourGals in college has been unique because of the pandemic. But we have found ways to retain members, serve seniors in our area, and have fun in creative new ways.

GlamourGals has improved my time management, leadership skills, communication skills, fostered my creativity, and given me an outlet for service and fulfillment in college.
