3 things that GG has taught me these past 2 years
Our first Canadian Chapter leader, Lizmarie C. from Mc Master University shares what she’s learned in the past 2 years with GlamourGals.
1. Leadership: Starting Canada's very first chapter of GG national was not an easy task. It required a significant amount of time, dedication, and patience but eventually, we managed to pull it off. One thing that starting this chapter has taught me would most definitely be leadership. Being co-president & co-founder really forces you to step into your role and be that person that the rest of your team can look up to. I am so glad to have GG because it inevitably taught me how to lead and work with a team!
2. Friendship: At the end of the day GG is an organization based on friendship! Yes, there are a significant amount of technicalities involved but nothing beats the connections that you make when you are on this team. GG taught me that friendship has no age attached! Our first year running I befriended so many seniors who I would gladly enjoy hanging out with on a day-day basis (if I could). The laughter, memories, and love that I have for this club and all of the friendships I have built through GG are irreplaceable!
3. Kindness: The most important thing that GG taught me would be kindness. I never knew how much one small act of kindness could impact someone else's life until I witnessed what one hour of my time did for the seniors last year! Seeing the smiles on all of their faces is something that will always be engraved into my memories and something I would not trade for the world. In the end, it is not necessarily about how much you do but the quality of what you are doing that matters, and GG most definitely taught me that!
