Elementary School Partnership

Grace C., a Cinnaminson High School volunteer, writes how for this year’s Spring #MyDearFriend event, she got others involved!

After writing cards for Riverview routinely throughout this school year, the GlamourGals CHS chapter tried something new: working with the younger students to increase the number of cards we could send. Though this year has caused many changes, specifically not being able to actually go inside and visit Riverview residents, the shift has also allowed more people than ever to participate. As such, a club at the elementary school- Good Citizens Club- worked with the GlamourGals club at the high school to make extra springtime cards to send over to the nursing home. After the President, Payton, sent over an informative video with the message and mission of GlamourGals, I met virtually with some of the younger students for a car-making session. The theme for the younger students was "Sending Sunny Smiles," and they drew cute colorful designs. With the younger children writing the messages and designing the cards, it was a nice change to the usual card writing routine, and was able to make it a little different and interesting. As, hopefully, next year things start to look a bit more normal, I think this elementary school connection is something we should keep in mind, even if it is only a once-a-year event. It's great to get a chance to work together with the younger kids and work together!
