My First Makeover

Marcy B., an Ottawa Glandorf High School volunteer, writes about the impactful first makeover she had 3 years ago!

I don’t remember my first makeover in great detail since it was about 3 years ago but I do remember the feeling I had when I first walked through the doors of the nursing home. We went to the Meadows of Ottawa on a warm Sunday afternoon. I remember feeling so nervous because I didn’t know what to expect going into it. As we sat down with some of the residents I just remember meeting the sweetest old lady that kept telling stories about her childhood and how much she loved it when the high school kids came to visit. It made me realize how much of an impact we were really making for these residents just by giving them a few hours on a Sunday afternoon.
