An Inspiring Woman

Dhruvi M., an Amador Valley High School volunteer, writes about a woman she met at one of her chapter’s makeover visits! This senior, like many seniors that our volunteers create friendships with, gave Dhruvi a new perspective on college education at this visit.

Dhruvi

In our in-person visit, I worked with a lady named Donna. Donna was a math major in college, and her favorite color was purple; that's honestly the most talking about her we did. Instead, she was super sweet and asked me many questions about myself, especially about what educational path I want to take in the future. GlamourGals has helped me discover the differences in the possibilities of the careers I can pursue. I think it is so interesting to hear the seniors' jobs, primarily because they probably worked when women weren't as free to work in the science and math fields. This is why Donna stood out to me because she went to college and studied math. Although I don't plan on studying math, she genuinely inspired me, and I'm so happy to see that there has been an actual change in the standard for women and their educational pursuits, and I am beyond thankful for GlamourGals in showing me this.
