How I Became A Better Speaker

Sarah J., Olmsted Falls High School PR Officer, shares how she has developed her public speaking skills through volunteering and reflects on the impact of GlamourGals within her community.

As the PR Officer of my chapter in GlamourGals I have been involved in planning events, helping create a volunteer list and recruiting volunteers for GlamourGals events.

Being a part of GlamourGals has helped my leadership skills by creating a comfortable environment for me to improve my public speaking, creating a positive environment with volunteers and going out of my comfort zone to find new volunteers. During a lot of the GlamourGals events this year, I would speak in front of our volunteers, our senior community and school administration. Speaking in front of large groups of people helped me develop confidence with public speaking and directing people. GlamourGals has really helped me grow my leadership skills that way.

This year our chapter was just created and is already so valued within our community. Olmsted falls is such a small town so to have the chance to connect our youth with the seniority community is so important. Meeting wonderful ladies through GlamourGals has helped me so much, I now recognize people that come into my work and in public throughout my day. GlamourGals has also helped with the confidence of the volunteers in general and with gaining conversational skills. I helped create a positive attitude in our chapter by capturing our moments with the senior community and volunteers!
