Valentine's Day Letter Writing!
Eliza T., treasurer of NYC iSchool chapter, shares her experience writing Galentine’s Day notes to connect with seniors and her goal to continue to spreading kindness as a GG leader.
I had a great time writing last week! I wrote so many Valentine's Day letters to let the seniors know how loved they are. I created many different roses that are red and violets are blue rhymes. One rhyme I created was "roses are red, violets are blue, you are so special and so loved too!" I think these add a nice touch to the rest of the message in my letters because it's starting out with a cute rhyme that everyone knows!
One thing I love about letter writing is that it is a way to connect with the seniors and let them know I care about them without physically being with them. Since we cannot have in person meetings every week, letter writing is a great way to maintain my connections with the seniors.
I hope to continue letter writing in my free time and I also hope to have an in person (Covid safe) karaoke with the seniors soon! We have not had an event with them since the beginning of December. The seniors really enjoyed singing and playing "name that tune'', so it would be very fun to have a karaoke celebration in their senior home.
