What I Hope to Get Out of My GG Experience
Reya P., a Thomas A. Edison High School volunteer, shares what she hopes to gain from her volunteer experience. She offers insight into a GlamourGals chapter and what reveals others should know when joining the community.
Being apart of GlamourGals so far has made me a better person for my community. It allows me to help society in fun ways and spread awareness for many major issues that are going on in our world. Some goals that I have from being a GlamourGal is to provide service to my community, give back to our earth and be able to spread positivity around me. I plan my journey on completing my goals by becoming a better citizen day by day with the help of my fellow volunteers. I truly believe that together, we can make a difference.
GlamourGals has been such an amazing and fun experience. We made cards and bracelets for seniors at a senior home so they wouldn't feel alone during the holidays. Something that I hope to get out of my GG experience is the satisfaction of knowing I left my mark on someone. Being able to bring happiness and joy on the faces of elders are so heart warming to think about. I hope my card touches the heart of someone and they are able to feel loved and powerful.
If I were introducing the club, GlamourGals, to a friend or a student, one thing I would want them to know about is the environment that we work in. The GlamourGals are always there for one another, professionally and personally. Everyone respects one another and everyone's ideas and interests get heard. Walking into GlamourGals, I didn't know anyone within the group. However, I know that I'll be walking away from GlamourGals with new friends that may last a lifetime.
