Advice to Future Members

Molly P., Bay Port High School volunteer, reflects on the past service year and all her chapter has accomplished. She also offers advice to new members on how to have a successful and fun experience too.

Finishing School

As I finish school I am reflecting on the service work we have done. I greatly enjoyed the time I spent with others, doing something that helps with elder outreach in the community. I work at a nursing home and I have seen how special it is to them when they get letters from loved ones and appreciate an opportunity to do the same for others. I will try to keep the lessons I've learned of community, friendship, kindness, and outreach with me as I graduate and look for more opportunities to apply these skills that GlamourGals has given me. I will try to continue to send cards to those who need them!

Advice for Future Members

My advice for future members is to enjoy the experience as the school year finishes very fast! Talk to other members and learn what you can from those in years above, their advice can be very helpful. Attending the card-making sessions makes it WAY easier to get your cards done for each campaign, and is a great way to get access to fun supplies and new ideas! Also, make sure to get your journals done at the meetings as the prompts make it easier. Overall, appreciate the opportunity to reach out to the elderly and make sure to have fuN!

Spreading The Word

As I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the GlamourGals chapter I have been sure to spread the word about the program. Unfortunately many like me are or were not aware of GlamourGals so it can be difficult to find new members. However, member numbers are growing as word spread, we had a ton of people that joined this year! I have been sure to tell younger classmen and others in my grade what a fun experience GlamourGals have been, and all that it has helped accomplish. Hopefully, members will continue to grow this coming year!
