The title for my photographic submission was CONNECTING HANDS. My photos showed and taught others how we can combat senior loneliness through meaningful connections with youth. I carefully selected this name to describe the importance of the isolation of seniors in our current society.
My project revolved around the idea of how everyone has their own lives and stories and that several are quick to judge before understanding the depth of a person. GlamourGals played a part in this because while listening to the stories of the seniors, I learned so many things about them that I would not have if I didn't take the time to sit with them. If I hadn’t, I wouldn't have discovered the youth within their souls and the stories they had to tell. This one woman specifically had a love for Elvis Presley and she had attended an Elvis concert when she was around 16 years old. I saw a spark in her eye as she spoke. I want people to take from this that you never know someone unless you take the time to get to know them, never judge a book by their cover since they have chapters and chapters of stories to tell.
