A New Friend
Ivy L. of the Union County Vocational Schools Chapter captures the heart of the GG mission: intergenerational connections!
At our latest senior home visit, I met an elderly woman named Marie. When I first introduced myself to her, she greeted me with great enthusiasm and asked if I was a high school student. It turns out, Marie used to teach high school students at a trade school when she was younger. She told me about her love for working with children, emphasizing the importance of having passion in what you pursue in life. She also talked about her family, who occasionally visited her at the senior home. I told her about my love for cooking as well, since my parents own a restaurant and I've been fortunate enough to learn from them at a young age. I enjoyed every moment talking to Marie and look forward to seeing her again when we visit again. Bonding experiences like this never fail to make my day and motivate me to keep doing what I love.
