Season of Firsts
Aubrey C., from Olmsted Falls High School describes her experience at her very first GlamourGals makeover of the service year!
We had our very first makeover of the year at the senior home. We had a ton of new members and new citizens come to join us. This meeting reassured me of the differences we are making as a club and made me feel like I was actually contributing to our community. We had one of our seniors come back from last year and tell us how much she missed us and how excited she was that we were back. A new senior came in to see what the club was about and ended up staying. She had experienced a stroke which made her hand sit a certain way and she was worried we could not paint her nails. We figured out a system that worked well for her and for us and ended up painting her nails, which made her feel very good. Her words were "I haven't got my nails painted in years!" We asked about how she felt and her response was, "I feel glamorous!"
Another one of our citizens received the cards we made and asked for a pen and paper. She wrote a note back to us thanking us for our time and sharing how special she felt. These experiences made me so happy and showed me why it is so important to have these events. I want to continue to make our senior friends feel as happy as we did yesterday.
