Heart to Heart: A Galentine's Celebration

Maya H. of the Danville Chapter had a Galentine’s Celebration full of love!

We had our Galentine's event and it was so fun! Each volunteer was paired with a senior. We painted their nails, answered get-to-know-you questions using a Big Sis & Lil' Sis questionnaire, and made heart prism cutouts together - writing things we both liked on them. We wrapped up the party with cupcakes and drinks while playing Valentine's Day-themed bingo. I wrapped real roses for each senior to take home, along with a kind note and some candy.

Each senior said how special they felt and couldn't believe we were throwing a party for them! I'm already looking forward to bringing one of the seniors a basket of her favorite things for her birthday in a few months!

This event taught me how valuable it is to intentionally take time to get to know, see, and show love to others—how it illuminates and brightens their hearts. When I gave Debbie her flowers, she was so happy. When I told her I wrapped them myself and that they were real, she gave me a big hug and thanked me for making her feel special!

This was my personal experience. I heard equally meaningful stories from other volunteers.
