Our First Meeting With Sagecare
Our William Lyon Mackenzie Ci chapter hosted their first volunteer session with Sagecare Retirement Home! The volunteers had fun creating geometric paintings and interacting with the seniors.
Today we held our first volunteer session with Sagecare Retirement Home! In this meeting, we instructed the participating seniors on how to create geometric paintings as well as how we interacted with them. It was so much fun and everyone's painting turned out to be amazing! I had an awesome time and I really enjoyed how our first meeting turned out. I was a bit worried in the beginning, since it was our first time doing this as a chapter, but I am glad that everything ran smoothly. I am super excited to continue collaborating with Sagecare and I hope that in the future, we will be able to visit the seniors at Sagecare and work with them personally. - Ilana M.
On Sunday, I really enjoyed participating in the geometric shapes arts project. I felt relaxed and happy painting and making art, and seeing everyone’s different outcomes. I loved seeing the creativity of the residents at the old care home as well as the other volunteers. I would really enjoy doing another project like this as creating art by painting is something I don’t do often, but always enjoy. This was a simple and easy to follow project that lead us all to create beautiful artwork. I hope that the old care home residents also enjoyed this project as much as I did and I hope that it made everyone feel happy, calm and artistic. - Saleena S.
We had our first arts and crafts event with the senior home a few days ago! It was such an enjoyable and engaging activity. I loved being able to talk with my fellow volunteers and meet the seniors at the home for the first time. The activity, geometric painting, was so relaxing and fun and I had the chance to make a painting of a kite which I really like. Despite being online, I really felt a sense of community while being a part of the meeting and it was a very heartwarming experience.
For the next meeting, I would really love the chance to connect more with the seniors. I feel as though we did not get much of an opportunity to speak with them and I hope to do so in the future. I am looking forward to the next activity we have coming up! - Mia B.
