Stuyvesant’s First GG Senior Home Visit: A Sweet Treat

Madison Z, the President of the Stuyvesant chapter, recounts her first GG Senior Home Visit, detailing some comical moments while cookie decorating.

I was very excited to have hosted my first GlamourGals event today at The 80th Street Residence! Before going in, I was super nervous about how the event would go - would it be awkward with the seniors? Would it be hard to manage the other members and ensure everyone was on the same page? However, soon after we arrived one of the elderly ladies cracked a joke about being offended to be called a senior, "Who are you calling a senior?!"

I ended up having a very enjoyable and entertaining time! I had fun helping the seniors decorate their cookies and found it hilarious watching many of them start eating the cookies before we even covered them with icing – never mind embellishing them with glittering sprinkles and cherry tops! Cookie decorating itself did not take longer than 30 minutes, and we spent the rest of the time putting together jigsaw puzzles and teaching the seniors how to play Jenga.

Another funny moment occurred when the daughter of one senior showed up to take her out for lunch, and the senior didn't want to leave, even asking "So what if you are my daughter?" Overall, the event was very relaxing and enjoyable, and I am excited about the upcoming events! I am very proud of my team and the professionalism they all showed.
