Why Sandy serves with GlamourGals
Sandy is employed by Brookfield, designing and delivering the learning and development agenda for several US and Canada business sectors. She spent the majority of her professional career on Wall Street and BigLaw firms. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business from Lafayette College and her certification in Organizational Development and Training from NYU.
In her spare time, she's an active reader, crafter, jigsaw puzzle and LEGO builder, card & letter writer for the My Dear Friend and Girls Love Mail campaigns, photographer, and Komen 3Day walker. In November 2025, she completed her 27th, 60-mile walk for the cure in San Diego and has raised over $200,000 in the fight against breast cancer.

Tell us about a senior or a teen volunteer you’ll never forget.
"I met two seniors during my only manicure outing.It was a 2025 summer Friday, and we were at Amsterdam Nursing Home. One of my seniors was all sparkly, wearing bracelets they made at the Home. She proudly told me about being one of the first female engineers at NY Telephone. She’d witnessed jazz in Harlem and so much more in the city. We shared a love of food. My second senior, we discovered, lives in the building diagonal to mine. She was a translator at the UN back in the day when women could only be secretaries and receptionists. Obviously she saw and heard a lot that none of us will never know about. We traded stories about our neighborhood, best bagel recommendations, and the theater. Both were trailblazers!”

What would you tell your teenage self about leadership?
"Always trust your gut, your common sense, and your principles. If it feels wrong, looks wrong, sounds wrong…it is. You were the littlest of all the cousins, and you had to be loud to be seen or heard. (The whole family was loud and boisterous!) Use that childhood skill to continue to stand your ground. Just because someone is older or taller or at the company longer doesn’t mean they know better or should have the last or the only say."
